The game took a strange turn in the 52nd minute when an already chippy match spun out of control. The ugliness started when Ecuador’s Antonio Valencia tripped up midfielder Alejandro Bedoya to earn his second yellow card. The U.S. will be without Bedoya and Wood, who have accumulated two yellow cards, and Jones, who has to serve a suspension for getting tossed from the game.
