CAIRO - 31 August 2021: U.S. Ambassador Jonathan R. Cohen visited Habu city in Luxor on Monday. Since 1995, the U.S. government through USAID has supported Chicago House’s restoration work at Habu city, including a current $6 million investment in the development of Habu as an open-air museum and tourist site. Ambassador Cohen noted, “The U.S. government partners with Americans and Egyptians to preserve Egypt’s cultural heritage, which contributes to Egypt’s economy through tourism and job creation, and has funded the protection of some of Egypt’s most valuable cultural assets.”
