Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population on Monday reported 263 new coronavirus cases, six deaths, and 331 recoveries. A total of 288,162 cases have been reported in Egypt, alongside 16,727 deaths and 238,580 recoveries. The Advisor to the Health and Population Minister for Research and Health Development Noha Asem said on Monday that the increased infections are a result of citizens’ failure to adhere to precautionary measures. During a phone-in with the privately-owned al-Nahar satellite channel, Asem said that the scientific committee to combat coronavirus met on Monday to amend Egypt’s treatment protocol for COVID-19. The Health Ministry is currently working to issue QR-coded vaccination certificates for Egyptians and foreigners that receive their doses in the country.
