Police arrested and relieved from service the commander of the University Belt (U-Belt) police community precinct (PCP) in Manila along with two others for allegedly extorting money from vendors through civilian collectors. At about 6:45 p.m. on Friday, agents of the Philippine National Police’s Counter Intelligence Task Force (CITF) conducted an entrapment operation against Chief Insp. After verifying the tips, the civilian suspects were identified and monitored by the CITF every Friday. They were seen proceeding to the U-Belt PCP to remit weekly collections to the police personnel of the precinct. Also arrested were the two barangay officials of Barangay 409 Zone 42 identified as Kagawad Gregorio Bernardo and a certain Raymund Baga.
