SportHundreds of school rugby players were recognised last Thursday for their untiring efforts during the concluded school rugby season which resulted in taking their respective teams to the helm at the annual awards ceremony of the Singer Schools Rugby League Championship. The event took place at the Bishops' College Auditorium along with the inaugural Singer-Sunday Times Schoolboy Ruggerite of the Year 2017, where five top awards were presented. The cynosure of the evening was undoubtedly on the top three awards, where the Singer-Sunday Times Schoolboy Ruggerite of the Year 2017, which was claimed by the dynamics No.8 of Isipathana College, Chamod Fernando. St. Anthony's College Katugastota were awards the Plate championship and while Dharmaraja College were awarded as runners-up. The Plate championship of the segment went to Sri Rahula College Katugastota while Vidyaloka College Galle emerged runners-up.
