A tribunal has sentenced two people to death for killing Rajshahi University professor Rezaul Karim Siddiquee in 2016. Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Shirin Kabita Akhter gave the verdict on Tuesday, in presence of the three convicts. The condemned convicts are Shariful Islam, a student of the University’s English Department and Maskawat Hossain Sakib alias Abdullah, hailing from Bogura. The tribunal also sentenced Rahmatullah, a student of Rajshahi University, Abdus Sattar and his son Ripon Ali of Poba upazila, to life term imprisonment. Prof Rezaul Karim, 58, of RU English Department, was killed in the city’s Shalbagan area while he was waiting for a university bus on April 23, 2011.
