Vineet Chauhan who was killed when his scooter was hit by a vehicle at Maniktala on SaturdayJan. 28: A Class XII student was among two scooterists killed in separate accidents on the city roads on Saturday. Vineet was taken to the ESI Hospital and later shifted to Apollo Gleneagles hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. "We received a call from the ESI Hospital that Vineet was critically injured," said his elder brother Suraj, an insurance agent. Statistics available with Lalbazar suggest that nearly one-fifth of the fatal accidents in the city involve two-wheelers. In the last six months of 2016 alone, there were 55 accidents involving motorcycles and in 32 of these cases, the riders and pillion riders were not wearing helmets.
