Two students get a final lesson at their graduation. And it’s not one they wanted.

Monet Key-Passmore and Destiny Richardson stared out across the sea of students that filled the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro on Wednesday morning and tried again. By that evening, WUSA 9’s website featured a report headlined “Students say administrator bullied them at Oxon Hill graduation.”School officials said they took exception to Burroughs’s account of the events at the graduation. In fact, officials say, Burroughs and the two students were told in advance he could not cede his time to them. A day after Oxon Hill’s graduation, Burroughs returned to Show Place Arena for the Potomac High School commencement. Both students are headed to college in the fall and are working on putting what happened behind them.
