Twenty people were left injured when fighting began at Banshgari on Monday, said Superintendent of Police Md Shafiur Rahman. ‪The dead have been identified as Arush Ali and Jainal, he said. ‪Police said the two were among supporters of former Banshgari chairman Hafizur Rahman when they clashed with supporters of present chairman Sirajul Haque. ‪At least 30 households were vandalised and torched during the clashes among men also armed with sharp weapons. ‪The rivals have been fighting a turf war in the area, especially since Hafizur, ruling Awami League's Banshgari union president, lost the election, said SP Md Shafiur‪Another villager was killed last month in a clash over their rivalry.
