KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Navy has confirmed that two of its sailors died while in the detention unit in Sungai Wangi, Sitiawan in Perak yesterday. In a statement today, RMN said the deceased were identified as Mohd Baihaqy Nik Mat, 28, and Muhammad Lailatulman Mohd Sukri, 26, both lance corporals. “They were immediately told to rest and then were returned to the detention unit.”The statement said the lance corporals appeared to be exhausted and were vomiting and having breathing difficulties. RMN said they were then given treatment by staff at the unit but both lance corporals were pronounced dead by paramedic officers at 3.15pm. RMN said it would not compromise or protect any individuals if there was a breach of procedures which led to the deaths.
