The two men killed after a ute rolled on a remote Taranaki farm were Jason William Payne and Craig Daniel Murphy. The fatal accident was reported on Saturday afternoon after Murphy, 31 and Payne, 34, were found in the 4WD ute on a privately owned farm in Kohuratahi, in the Whangamomona Valley, about 76 kilometres inland from Stratford. Due to the rugged nature of the terrain and the farm's remote location, the Taranaki Rescue Helicopter was called on to assist with the retrieval of the men's bodies. The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the accident.
