Two Italian nationals have been jailed in Australia after the 'date rape' drug ketamine was discovered stuffed inside children's Christmas toys. On Christmas Day 2023, Australian Border Force (ABF) officers unwrapped a package from Spain en route to an address in Perth. They discovered about 1.5kg of high-purity ketamine hidden inside five soft Christmas toys, Australian Federal Police (AFP) said in a statement on Friday. The officers alerted the AFP, who replaced the illicit drugs with an inert substance and released the toys for delivery on January 4. Later that day, AFP officers raided the residence, where they found the package open on a table and some of the substituted drugs removed from two of the toys.
