The other four singles players heading to the island are Zii Jia, Cheam June Wei, Leong Jun Hao and Ng Tze Yong. Daren is at the 41st spot, followed by Joo Ven (67), June Wei (74), Tze Yong (134) and Jun Hao (157). On paper, former Asian junior champion Jun Hao holds the edge. Both, however, eventually withdrew from the home tournament as Joo Ven suffered cramps while Zii Jia picked up a lower back injury. In the final against Indonesia, Joo Ven gave Anthony Ginting a run for his money before losing.
