Two men are in hospital after a microlight crashed at Hokitika on the South Island's West Coast on Saturday morning. A police spokeswoman said one person was flown with a helicopter to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries, and another person was taken to Grey Base Hospital with moderate injuries. She said the aircraft crashed at the northern end of the runway. The Civil Aviation Authority has been notified and will investigate the cause of the accident.
