NewsA group of naval personnel attached to the Northwestern Naval Command arrested two suspects who were attempting to smuggle 7 kg of gold via sea after a tip-off recived by Navy. The apprehension was made at the beach area of Kandakkuliya, Kalpitiya yesterday. It is estimated that the gold stock is approximately worth Rs. Meanwhile, the naval troops also seized a dinghy used for this illegal activity. The suspects along with the stock of gold, dinghy and other items were handed over to the Customs Office of Sinnapadu for onward legal action.
