President condoles over demise of UN Resident Coordinator


NewsPresident Maithripla Sirisena expressed his heartfelt condolences over the death of UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Sri Lanka, Ms. Una McCauley, President Secretariat said. He also signed the condolence book to mark the death of the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Sri Lanka, Ms. Una McCauley at the United Nations Office in Sri Lanka. In a special message of condolence to the UN Secretary General António Guterres, the President stated that Ms.Una MaCauley was a talented professional who served in Sri Lanka with a thorough understanding regarding the vision of the UN. President Sirisena also recalled that she had worked hard with a great determination, dedication and humanity to promote peace and reconciliation in Sri Lanka as well as to achieve the social and economic progress of the country and during her six year tenure in Sri Lanka she was able to win the honour and confidence of all she worked with. "The demise of Ms.Una McCauley for Sri Lanka is a loss of close relation who was a true humanitarian personality," the President stated that while extending his deepest sympathies to the UN and the family members and relatives of late Ms. Una McCauley on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka and its citizens.
