Two youths, including a student, died on Sunday after they drowned in Mathioya River. They tried to cross the raging river on a makeshift bridge, when they drowned. Timothy Mwangi, 20, and Maureen Nyaguthii, 18, were in the company of another student Purity Gakii when the tragedy struck. Kairo assistant chief Isaac Wahome said the three slipped off the bridge and fell into the swollen river. “Mathioya river is especially very dangerous at this time as it is swollen and flows too fast for anyone to swim,” Wahome said.
