Md Hasan and ‘Sohel’ alias ‘Sharif’, sons of the building’s founder late Haji Wahed, had secured bail from the High Court. The duo pleaded for fresh bail but Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Kaisarul Islam on Tuesday rejected their petition and ordered them into jail. The deadly fire in Old Dhaka’s Chawkbazar on Feb 20 killed 71 people. The fire started on Wahed Mansion’s second floor used for storing chemicals, not by gas cylinder of any vehicle or restaurant, said the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh or IEB after an investigation. Of the 71 people who died in the fire, 24 were found on the ground floor of the mansion.
