Two Toronto babies born at stroke of midnight

As Toronto ushered in the New Year with music and fireworks, it also welcomed two new babies born exactly at the stroke of midnight in separate hospitals. St. Michael’s Hospital and Humber River Hospital have claimed the first births of 2018 with deliveries at 12 a.m. — that is 12:00:00 a.m. exactly — on Jan. 1. At Humber River Hospital, a baby boy named Phillip was delivered through c-section, said hospital spokesperson Joe Gormon. Gorman said the boy weighed four pounds, six ounces and the girl weighed five pounds and nine ounces. Meanwhile, Mount Sinai Hospital tweeted their first birth was both three seconds after midnight, at 12:00:03 a.m.
