Two Canadians among more than 2,000 passengers stranded on a virus-hit cruise ship off the coast of Japan have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, Princess Cruises confirmed. The Diamond Princess cruise ship detected 20 cases of the virus and have transferred the ill passengers to shore for treatment. Initially, the cruise line reported 10 confirmed cases but later Wednesday said 10 more passengers had contracted the virus, two of them Canadians. The ship with 2,666 guests, including 251 Canadians, and 1,045 crew aboard will remain under quarantine for at least 14 days. A total of 373 Canadians are seeking assistance to leave the quarantined area.
