Mexico City — Two Canadian tourists were killed and another injured by armed assailants at a five-star hotel on the Caribbean Strip in Mexico, local officials said. The filming took place in the middle of the afternoon at Hotel Xcaret Mexico in Playa del Carmen, about 40 miles south of Cancun. “Three guests are from Canada.”State Attorney General Oscar Montesdeoka told Radioformula, Mexico, that a second shooting victim later died in a hospital. “Police, troops, and the National Guard filled the hotel and blocked access,” said Vicente Carrera, director of the local news website Noticaribe at the hotel. In late October, two foreign tourists were killed and three were injured in a shootout between rival gangsters in Tulum, a resort about 80 miles south of Cancun.
