OC Hossain said the two had gone to the Bichhanakandi tourist spot in the afternoon along with some friends. He identified them as first-year students Sayeed Nakib, 24, of Gainbandha, and Mashiur Rahman Siam, 25, of Rajshahi. Their bodies were pulled up from the river on Thursday evening, said Goainghat police OC Delwar Hossain. They were caught in the strong current of the river when they went for a swim around 4pm and drowned, he said. Locals and police found their bodies later around 6pm.
