Ian Foster has gone from being Steve Hansen's assistant to the top coaching job in New Zealand rugby, as All Blacks head coach. Different degrees, different potential paths, different personalities, but reaching the end of a chapter together, and turning their individual pages to see what the next one holds. We're nearly at the end of a year book-ended by disaster that's also the end of a decade book-ended by disaster. There's one new beginning that's already happened, but we've yet to see any results of. Of course I'm talking about Ian Foster's appointment as head coach of the All Blacks, having been Steve Hansen's longest-serving assistant.
