Lucknow, Jan. 17: As though playing dynastic politics were not enough, the BJP is banking on turncoats in the Uttarakhand Assembly elections. Harak Singh Rawat, who had defected to the BJP with nine Congress MLAs last year, has been fielded from Kotdwar. This is not acceptable to Shailendra Singh Rawat, a former BJP MLA. Kedar Singh Rawat, a former Congress leader who also switched sides yesterday, got the BJP ticket from Yamunotri. Twelve former Congress leaders are on the list of 64 so far given tickets in the hill state.
