Turkey has removed 8000 police officers across the country, including those in Istanbul and the capital, Ankara, two days after a failed coup attempt, according to a senior security official. The state-run news agency, Anadolu, said Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan ordered the overnight patrol by F-16s. Erdogan said on Sunday after the failed coup attempt that there could be no delay in using capital punishment, which Turkey abolished in 2004, and the government would discuss it with opposition parties.
