Tulip calls for more allocation for fire safety after Grenfell fire

Bangladeshi-origin Labour Party MP Tulip Rizwana Siddiq has called upon the British government to allocate more money for Camden to ensure fire safety to the residential buildings. Tulip, the niece of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, made the call while speaking in a debate on the Grenfell Tower Fire Inquiry in the House of Commons on Wednesday. The MP for Hampstead and Kilburn informed that the local council was spending its own money to ensure safety in tower blocks such as the Chalcots estate, which two weeks ago was evacuated at the behest of fire safety officers. Chalcots residents have been allowed to return their homes in phases this week on the advice of the fire brigade. Alok Sharma, minister of state for the department for communities and local government, said no more allocation would be given to ensure fire safety.
