It cannot be good for U.S. Attorney General William Barr that anyone thinks he might be the next John Mitchell. You'll recall Mitchell, attorney general for Richard Nixon, went to jail for perjury and obstruction of justice in the Watergate coverup. Barr was sworn in as attorney general on Feb. 14, Valentine's Day. The Justice Department responded: "Speaker Pelosi's baseless attack on the attorney general is reckless, irresponsible and false." That's when the former Nixon speechwriter and respected conservative columnist William Safire took to calling Barr "Cover-up General Barr."
