The first test of Trump’s Medicare pledge comes next month when the President-elect's new health team at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will set rates and makes any changes to Medicare Advantage plans. Though the CMS “rate notice” is separate from the ACA battle in Congress, the Coalition For Medicare Choices isn’t taking any chances, launching a "seven-figure" ad campaign to keep the light shined on Trump’s Medicare pledge. Medicare Advantage plans are run by some of the nation’s largest insurers including Aetna, UnitedHealth Group, Anthem, Cigna, Humana and Blue Cross and Blue Shield insurers. More than two million coalition members, including seniors enrolled in Medicare Advantage, will be rallied in 30 states writing letters and making phone calls and talking with lawmakers and the media. It will be supported by the advertising campaign designed to raise awareness about “the importance of Medicare Advantage plans” to the more than 18 million seniors enrolled in them, the group said.
