Pat Cipollone, a veteran Washington lawyer, is likely to be named the next White House counsel, succeeding Don McGahn, who has held the role since President Trump took office last year, according to two White House officials. Cipollone, who currently practices commercial litigation at Stein Mitchell Cipollone Beato & Missner LLP in Washington, would come into the position following a wave of departures from the White House counsel’s team, which typically staffs as many as 50 attorneys.
