Regarding your editorial “Adam Smith’s Revenge” (Oct. 31): It distresses me to read your take on the cooling effect the trade “war” with China is having on our otherwise booming economy, as if the dampening effect of the trade war with China was something that needed curing right away. There’s a bigger picture to be considered here. It’s clear to me that China has long been a bad actor in the world of commerce—stealing technology and forcing corporations to divulge proprietary secrets as the price for limited, temporary access to its markets.
