President Trump’s fight for a wall at the southern border intensified today as he declared a national emergency that would provide funding for his plan. APTOPIX Trump Border Security ASSOCIATED PRESSSpeaking from the Rose Garden this morning, Trump said, “I’m going to be signing a national emergency.” Signing such an order would allow funding of his border wall at the Mexico-U.S. border without Congressional approval. The move comes after a record-long government shutdown during which President Trump demanded funding for his border wall. The bill, a defeat for President Trump, is expected to be signed by him today. However, with his national emergency declaration Trump can circumvent Congress and claim victory.
