Trucking company fined for offal spill

The spill closed Townleys Rd in Kaikorai Valley. Photo: suppliedA trucking company responsible for "thousands of litres of blood and guts" spilling on to a Dunedin road has been fined. The offal spill happened on part of Townleys Rd in Kaikorai Valley on June 19 this year, closing the road for about 18 hours. However, there was no evidence that contaminants entered the water. Due to the location and quick action taken by people at the site to clean it up - including the trucking company - there were limited effects on the environment," Mr Saunders said.
