According to locals, Shafiqul was crossing the highway near the Tola Mazar gate area from one side to the other in his van on Saturday night, when an incoming Bongra-bound truck ran over himA van driver was run over by a truck on Saturday night at the Bogra-Dhaka highway. The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 40, son of Firoz Mia, resident of Chakpota village under Shahbandegi union. According to locals, Shafiqul was crossing the highway near the Tola Mazar gate area from one side to the other in his van on Saturday night, when an incoming Bongra-bound truck ran over him. Locals rushed him to the nearby Sherpur Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor pronounced him dead. Officer-in-Charge of Sherpur Police Station Bulbul Islam confirmed the incident and said the truck driver, Rasel Ahmed, 26, was detained and sent to Bogra jail on Sunday morning.
