Police said that the incident, involving a traffic constable, took place on Bou Bazar Street at the city’s Halishahar on Wednesday night. Constable RG Zojan Okhanda, 40, hailed from the district’s Anwara Upazlia, said Halishahar police OC Pranab Chowdhury. “Investigations have been started to find whether it was an accident or a deliberate act,” the police officer told bdnews24.com. Quoting witnesses, he said that Okhanda signalled the vehicle to stop as trucks are prohibited on that street, but was run over by it. The driver and his assistant have been detained.
