Tropical storm bears down on Florida as Hawaii braces for 2 hurricanes


Florida and Hawaii have both declared emergencies as potentially devastating tropical weather systems approach. Tropical storm Hermine has formed about 665 kilometres west-southwest of Tampa, Fla., with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometres per hour, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said. On its current path, the system would dump as much as 25 centimetres on coastal areas of Georgia, which was under a tropical storm watch, and the Carolinas. Hurricanes near HawaiiTwo hurricanes, Madeline and Lester, are approaching Hawaii, where Gov. GOES West captured this imagery of Hurricane #Madeline approaching Hawaii on 8/31.
