ZAMBOANGA CITY: Military personnel recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the pro-Islamic State Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in the southern province of Sulu, officials said on Saturday. “Through the cooperation of the civilian populace of the municipality of Indanan, a bombing was foiled as an improvised explosive device was retrieved. They want to instill fear, but the bravery and courage of our troops is unsurpassable,” he said. Western Mindanao Command Commander Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan Jr. noted that the IED was found at Barangay Timbangan in Indanan, Sulu on Friday. “It can be recalled that Sawadjaan was behind the 2019 Jolo Cathedral Bombing,” Vinluan said in a statement.
