Both the BJP and the CPM alleged that the youths were outsiders and hired by Trinamul to rig the polls. Four women Trinamul workers were injured when they were beaten up by BJP supporters at Piyariganj in Kanksa. The BJP alleged that the Trinamul women had been hired from Durgapur and were rigging the polls. In Raniganj's Amrasota gram panchayat, BJP workers resisted "outsiders" allegedly hired by Trinamul. They had come by a Bolero and allegedly tried to intimidate voters at different booths.
