( SUBMITTED IMAGE )Shortly after 11 p.m. on March 13, 2013, 72-year-old Peter Brooks allegedly used his walking cane to beat a fellow nursing home resident to death and injure another, a jury heard Monday. On Monday, the jury heard testimony from nurse Emily Burnham and personal support worker Maria Sevilla about the first attack on Lourdes Missier. Article Continued BelowThey both saw Brooks walking with his cane down the hallway in the direction of the room shared by Missier and another resident, court said. Sevilla testified Monday that she was not concerned when she saw Brooks walking in the hallway at that time of night. They saw Brooks at the doorway of the room, holding his cane “like a baseball bat…like he was going to strike at us,” Burnham testified.
