TDT | ManamaThe Daily Tribune – www.newsofbahrain.comBahrain’s Health Ministry announced detecting its first case of the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus yesterday after testing a traveller who arrived in the Kingdom. “All necessary mitigation protocols and precautions have been taken, including the isolation and precautionary quarantine of the active case,” said the Health Ministry statement. “We will not hesitate to take necessary measures at the national level to protect the people of the country and its residents if the situation demands,” the statement added. Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait announced detecting their first cases and the first known instances of Omicron infection in the Gulf region. WHO says it is not yet clear whether infection with Omicron causes more severe disease when compared to other variants, including Delta.
