Bus Éireann workers may be joined by Dublin Bus and Irish Rail after fears they are “next in the firing line” for cuts ANDY GIBSON/ALAMYThe threat of an all-out national transport strike was raised last night. Dublin Bus and Irish Rail could join Bus Éireann in a sympathy strike this week after Siptu said it would ballot members of the CIE companies. The threat of industrial action in all branches of the national public transport provider was revealed shortly after Bus Éireann said it could not sign off on its accounts as a result of its financial crisis. The semi-state company’s board said it was unable to set a budget for the year ahead. “This is a very serious matter as the board must now formally advise CIE that this governance requirement will not be met,” a spokeswoman said.
