A 30-year-old Welsh tramper who activated his personal locator beacon in Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park is resting up in a hut. The spokesman said the man had activated his beacon after he got stuck in bad weather and began suffering from hypothermia. The beacon had not been registered with identifying details, but was a United Kingdom-coded beacon, the spokesman said. There had been heavy rain in the area at the time the beacon was activated.
