Train from Puri jumps rails

The Puri-to-Haridwar train was apparently doing 105km an hour when it jumped tracks near Khatauli railway station in Muzaffarnagar, 650km west of Lucknow, railway sources said. Some Khatauli residents said the tracks had been repaired at the site this morning after they had sunk because of heavy rain. They had acted quickly at the time," Ram told local reporters. Railway officials said the derailment happened at 5.50pm, minutes after the train had left Khatauli station. The train had three general compartments, 12 sleeper coaches, five AC coaches and two goods bogies besides a pantry car.
