Traffic police for restricting entry of intercity buses to outer areas

Currently, private buses operate mainly from Majestic area and Kalasipalyam, while buses move in thickly populated areas where passenger pick-up points are located. This proposal covers buses operated by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation as well as private ones, senior police officials said. Confirming the proposal to ban intercity buses from entering the city, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy said: “The proposal is being discussed with the Transport Commissioner. Approximately, about 3,000 intercity buses, including those operated by private agencies, and road transport corporations of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, ply on the city roads. During weekends and on the eve of holidays, the Majestic area chokes as additional buses are deployed by all operators.
