My goal is to expose the harsh realities of Kerala’s captive elephants, the pain and suffering they endure behind the glamorous ornaments and cultural celebrations. It exposes the hideous torture stories of Kerala’s captive elephants in the backdrop of the glamorous festivals. ‘Gods in Shackles’ is on torture of captive elephants‘God in Shackles,’ a documentary exposing the torture stories of Kerala’s captive elephants, has drawn critical appreciation from animal activists as well as general public. As a part of the documentary production, the crew followed the lives of four celebrity elephants for over a year. Produced and directed by Sangita Iyer, ‘Gods in Shackles’ is a United Nations-nominated documentary that has secured many awards.
