Traffic offenders must help road accident victims


"Previously, the department ordered some 1,000 people on probation for traffic offences to aid hospital patients and to serve in morgues.Foundation vice president Vichien Techapaiboon said Poh Teck Tung had a variety of activities for offenders such as distributing free meals on special occasions, taking injured people to |hospitals and transporting corpses. The move is also designed to expose offenders to the relatives of road accident victims so they can see the grief caused by careless drivers.The action was activated yesterday by the signing of an agreement between the Probation Department and the Poh Teck Tung Foundation.Department director-general Pol Colonel Narat Sawettanant said: "We will send traffic law violators on probation to serve in this activity to make them more responsible for their reckless actions that could affect society, so they won't re-offend.
