Traffic chaos ahead of Waitangi weekendCHRIS SKELTON/FAIRFAX NZ Holidaymakers fleeing Auckland for Waitangi weekend faced delays on the southern motorway. Motorists faced delays of up to two hours in some parts of the country on Friday evening as a number of crashes snarled Waitangi weekend traffic. Diversions were in place near Havelock North after a person died in a car crash. NZTA The New Zealand Transport Agency's traffic cameras showed congestion building on Auckland's southern motorway, near Greenlane, at 4.30pm. Four southbound lanes had been opened on the bridge to help clear the traffic backlog, the transport agency said.
