"Our shelves are getting pretty thin at this point in time," said Karen Livick, executive director for community services with the Salvation Army. "Some of that may be the economy and the weather and people haven't quite got in to the Christmas spirit yet." The Salvation Army has seen a 60 per cent increase in families needing help this Christmas, compared to 2015. The Salvation Army isn't alone. Mason agrees the warm weather, as well as the economy, could be playing a part in dulling the Christmas spirit in Calgary.
