A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: "Police attended Tower Bridge at 12.18pm to reports of a possible suspicious package. "The bridge was closed while the package was examined and was found to be non suspicious. Photos posted on social media show the iconic bridge taped off with armed police and several vehicles on scene. Earlier, City of London Police said in a statement: "Tower Bridge is currently closed to traffic and pedestrians, whilst we investigate an incident on the bridge. Tower Bridge opened in June 1894 and is now used by tens of thousands of cars every day - when the UK isn't in lockdown.
