Initially seeming like a stream of unexpected and passionate actions from Ema soon begins to reveal a secret master plan, and the true complexity of our protagonist is revealed. (Image: MUBI)An unconventional anti-heroine, newcomer Mariana Di Girolamo brings a charisma, magnetism and sensuality to the part of Ema, who becomes incredibly independent amongst her gaggle of girlfriends who appear in the dancer's thrall. VerdictEma is a spellbinding, rhythmic, and unpredictable character study of one beguiling figure - with a star-making performance from Mariana Di Girolamo.
