Melanie Giesinger, 28, has admitted causing the death of motorcyclist Tane Roderick in a crash near Moeraki, in Otago, on Waitangi Day. A tourist driver will have to stay in New Zealand until April if she wants to fight against a conviction for killing a motorcyclist on Waitangi Day. Melanie Giesinger, 28, a teacher from Austria, appeared in the Dunedin District Court on Thursday following the crash that killed Tane Roderick, 42, near Moeraki, south of Oamaru, on February 6. Lawyer Rhona Daysh said Giesinger planned to meet with Roderick's family, who were present in court on Thursday.
